Kentucky LifeSmarts Competition

Welcome to Kentucky's LifeSmarts Competition for the 2009-2010 Program Year!

There are monumental challenges every day in the marketplace. Now more than ever, it is important to be consumer savvy in these hard economic times. As a teen, advertisers are targeting you and taking advantage of your vulnerabilities. You need to be able to determine your needs, evaluate your purchase options, and plan your purchases carefully without the influence of impulse spending or other market influences. Learning smart shopping skills, making good economic decisions and avoiding the pitfalls of over extending yourself with credit, will be a life long lesson, but it CAN BE DONE and IT CAN BE FUN! The Kentucky LifeSmarts partners challenge you to participate in the 2009-2010 LifeSmarts program to showcase your consumer knowledge in the areas of personal finance, health and safety, the environment, technology and consumer rights and responsibilities. Our goal is for you to have fun while learning and improving your marketplace skills. Being an informed, educated consumer will prove to be one of the most valuable life skills you possess.

Take the practice quizzes and then, when you're ready, enter the Kentucky competition. The top scoring teams will compete in the state LifeSmarts championship in Frankfort on Thursday, March 4, 2010 for a chance to represent Kentucky at the national competition in Miami, Florida on April 24-27, 2010. The face to face state competition is moderated by consumer experts from the Office of the Attorney General, the Department of Financial Institutions, the Department of Insurance, the Better Business Bureau and a consumer reporter from an area television station. All teams competing in Frankfort will receive "goodie bags" filled with items contributed by our sponsors and supporters.
