Government officials, business leaders, labor representatives, community leaders, media personalities, educators, school administrators, and others serve as volunteer officials at state and national competitions, coordinate state programs, recruit students and coach teams.

The National Consumers League seeks representatives from community-minded businesses, unions, nonprofit organizations, trade associations, universities, and government agencies, who are expert in one or more of the 5 LifeSmarts topic areas, to help officiate at the LifeSmarts National Competition.
