State Competition Rules and Regtulations
Anyone may come to watch the state competitions if space permits. Teams must arrive by the specified time or will be disqualified.State competitions will be comprised of various rounds of play. Rounds will be comprised of:
• individual questions
• team questions
• challenge questions
Individual questions must be answered by each individual player. Team questions can be discussed by the team members and the captain gives the team's response. Challenge questions are first to the bell. Tie breakers will be open-ended first to the bell questions.
Four team members must be playing at all times. The captain must play the entire match. Team members may rotate in at the end of the individual round and at the end of the team round. Each team has 2 opportunities during each match to have an open-ended question and the possible answers repeated by the Question Master.
The decisions of the competition officials are final and may not be challenged. Challenge of an official's decision by any competing team member or coach will be reason for disqualification.
Players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times. Inappropriate behavior will be reason for disqualification. The team coach is the official chaperone of the team.
Each team must designate a captain. The captain is considered the team leader and official spokesperson for the team.
Players may bring school banners and other "spirit" items with them to help cheer their teams on to victory. Players should dress appropriately. No torn clothing, short-shorts, halter tops or tank tops. Hats may not be worn during the competition. No corporate logos may appear on any clothing worn by the team.
